Fayette County N.A.A.C.P. Accomplishments

On February 12, 1909 The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was formed by a multiracial group of activists. Since then the NAACP has made great strides. The primary focus of the NAACP continues to be the protection and enhancement of the civil rights of all African Americans.
For over 80 years the National Asociation for the Advancement of Colored People (N.A.A.C.P.) has focused on educational issues and has directed its energy toward ensuring quality-integrated education. In Fayette County we would like to continue to award scholarships to Individuals who are in need of assistance to continue their education. The Fayette County Branch of the N.A.A.C.P. sponsered its first annual 5K run/walk race on August 4,2001. The theme for this race was "Catch The Vision - Level The Playing Field For All Man Kind." Local buisness and churches were invited to be a part of this community fundraising endeavor by contributing as sponsors. T-shirts were awarded to all registered participants of the race. Once again, members, volunteers, and members of the community came together to make the race a success and we have high hopes for future races. If you would like to donate to the N.A.A.C.P., please contact us.

Caring - Generous - Hardworking - Giving -                     Loving - Helping - Being
These are just some of the qualities of all our supporters. People who want to make the world a better place to live. People who want to make a difference. Most people think that they cannot make a difference but if everyone who said that tried anyway, just think what could be done!
